Thread: Grub installed to wrong disk

well messed , appreciate can provide

the story:
how system set 2 data drives , 1 os drive split between vista , ubuntu. after interior dusting of case plugged drives different sata cables switching os drive sda sdb didn't notice until after chose install 11.04 on current 10.04 install default seems install grub sda.

the current problem:
have wiped ubuntu off partition on os drive , restored mbr of os drive using vista cd data drive @ sda during ubuntu 11.04 install still has grub on , every time need restart computer need have vista cd inserted , set cd drive boot device bypass grub , windows.

the question:
how go removing grub data disc?

have important backed both ubuntu , windows sides of os drive both data drives mirrored own separate backup drives having full wipe not problem wondering if easier though.

so, sdb windows hd , sda ubuntu hd?
wiped grub sdb, grub on sda still annoying you?

easiest way (if want keep playing ubuntu) update grub , use boot loader both os.

if want remove both drives suggest first switch (in bios) boot order, read windows loader in sdb first , never grub in sda.

real remove, can unplug sdb , boot vista cd , "repair" (fixmbr, wich install windows loader) on sda.
