Thread: Brightness problem

hello,
have acer extensa 5635z os xubuntu 11.04 , can't change brightness keyboard, keep pressing fn+ left, right , nothing happens, not brightness image doesn't appear! please it's killing eyes, it's bright!

can open terminal window, type in following, , post results:

as workaround, if can manually adjust brightness, can create script , assign script shortcut keys.

found link (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php...48&postcount=8) suggests using custom kernel might solve problem.
