here problem: can xrdp virtual server; can winbind windows ads; but, can't both: instead end sesman login failures after getting winbind going.
i'm running couple vms through ms hyper-v; i've run similar problems both.
first vm clone of virtual machine running samba+pam+winbind. vm server version of 9.10 on 64bit platform. because 64 bit platform , xrdp + tightvncserver has bug on 64 bit platforms, opted upgrade 10.10 release, because xrdp doesn't need tightvncserver release afaik. so, upgraded 10.10, installed xrdp. there logged xrdp: sesman said network user login successful , passed of session display. borked because gdm wasn't installed. so, installed ubuntu-desktop. after doing , restarting vm, no login works xrdp, local logins fail; sesman returns login failure messages. also, when su network login regular user, su, however, receive message "erroneous conversation (5)" after logging in.
on top of experience, did fresh new vm of using 11.04 desktop iso. after xrdped local account, configured pam+samba+winbind success: similar 10.10x64 experience, su "erroneous conversation (5)" caveat and, now, no login works xrdp, local logins fail; sesman returns login failure messages.
welcome , guidance regards,
