How to delete orphaned files

i trying clean very messy site took on someone. has thousands of unused files. did ....

 

1. select site > check links sitewide.dreamweaver checks links in site , displays broken ones in results panel.
2. select orphaned files menu on link checker panel.dreamweaver displays files no incoming links. means no files in site link these files.
3. select files want delete , press delete.

important: although no other file in site links these files, of listed files may link other files. use caution when deleting files.

 

my question this. great tells me nothing links file incoming if not tell me if links outgoing how can go ahead , delete it??

you should able save report can @ in excel, instance, of list of orphaned pages.

 

if, before delete pages, run links report, 1 of other report selections besides orphaned files, able see if there links want somehow preserve (perhaps not deleting pages until have dealt duplicating links on live pages, if warrant it).

 

unfortunately or fortunately, not strictly mechanical operation, , know site more intimately had expected, imagine.

 

i sympathize clean-up duty. thankless task (i hope getting paid it...), leads vigilance on part when reworking site.
