Thread: How do they, in some blogs, auto convert vertical quotation marks into curly ones?

in many blogs, if write, example, comment this:

i "superb" idea.

when submit it appears as:

i “superb” idea.

the typewriter (vertical, straight) quotation marks automatically replaced typographic (curly) ones.

how it? php, javascript or css perhaps?

i cannot answer question because i've never seen board or forum " " style of quotation mark converted type-set sort, ones 66 99.

problem is: many of have grown accustomed inch-marks-for-quotes when reading text online. prefer 66 99 when typesetting document. looks more professional " or ' .
