cutting a path in half? help me

i want cut path in half. i've searched far , wide around internet on how couldn't find results. how go doing this? i've inserted image make answering question easier.

 

object > path > add anchor points add point in middle of straight path made 1 segment. can select added point , press button scissor on control bar.

 

edit 1: way if check show center button in attributes panel, using scissor tool smart guides turned on show "center" label , snap when mouse on center of path.

 

edit 2: forget second suggestion, didn't check way, when clicked scissor try cutting path, warning popped out showing illustrator thinks center point end anchor point. poor programming

and disappointingly add anchor point tool doesn't work on center point.
