i have same problem. new joomla 2.5.6 installation on new webhotell php 5.3.15.
it hangs after having chosen language.
i choose language norwegian. hangs.
so installed joomla 2.5.4. through one-click toolbox @ webhotell , upgraded j-2.5.6
then saw language-tag nb-no in english language in content. should have been en-gb. , english language not installed administration or site.

how transfer files host? admin panel or ftp. if ftp site binary file transfer type?
how extract files? on windows not use default archive manager download , install 7-zip.
