okay,i've developed python script notifies user his/her new facebook notifications.it based on xml feed technology.now want give users right copy, the right modify , right freely distribute script.so,i want know how can license python script under gpl.also there licensing fee associated licensing software under gpl.i'm complete novice in field elaborated explanation needed.
sounds cool! understand law paper did @ uni, script automatically protected copyright whenever created it, without having register or anything. copyright owner, can it. if decide distribute under copyright, that's fine, include copyright terms in scripts (and maybe gui if have "about" section.
if want give copyrights others (i.e. rights under gpl), that's better, nothing makes me happier seeing contributions free software community. include gpl copyleft terms in scripts (i.e. can modify it, can sell it, people have attribute you, future modifications have licenced under gpl?). doing won't mean lose status copyright owner, it'll mean allowing rights non-owners (just how if buy cd copyright owner sony, right listen it, sony still owns copyright).
nitty-gritty, check out:
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html
has section on how apply these terms programme, , faq etc.
