hello,

know version 10.04 no longer supported. unfortunately did not update or upgrade before support systems' version ended. suspect of problem.

when attempt update update manager gives these readings;

an unresolvable problem occurred while initializing package information.

please report bug against 'update-manager' package , include following error message:

'e:encountered section no package: header, eroblem mergelist /var/lib/dpkg/status, e:the package lists or status file not parsed or opened.'


serious problem?

this not true; 10.04 supported on desktop until april 2013.

fix problem have, in terminal:

sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/* -vf sudo apt-get update
