hello everyone, been having quite few issues network connection on toshiba satellite c655d-sp4131l.
first of installer of ubuntu 11.04 64 bit kept getting stuck after tries worked , managed install it. things worked go everytime tried connect wireless network computer freezes completely. tried 32 bit version of 11.04 , same happens.
figured maybe ubuntu problem friend tried installing fedora , freezed when trying connect wireless.
tried opensuse , gets stuck midaway installation everytime, don't know if happens trying connect wireless dl wouldn't surprise me.
since freezing happening several distros figured wasn't distro specific problem either kernel issue, firmware issue or both.
went ubuntu tried install ubuntu 10.10 64 bit. managed install , seemed work fine except didn't recognize wireless card. after searching bit found solution here: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu...uestion/132667
after recognized wireless card , able connect but...
freezes again. doesn't freeze time happened 11.04 happens when go wired wireless. issue wired connection disconnects , refuses connect again no matter do. have restart computer connect again.
issues 10.10 has been 1 less problems want stick see if can fix these other problems.
appreciate if can me since i'm pretty frustrated @ point , have no idea might be. wanted update firmware see if problem toshiba doesn't provide firmware upgrade specific model i'm little afraid try other firmware , harm computer.
anyway summary of 2 main issues want fix in ubuntu 10.10:
1. when try connect wireless network computer freezes completely.
2. wired network computer disconnects , refuses reconnect both wired or wireless connection. way connect again restart computer.
have looked answers in forum find people had similar issues 11.04 or 10.10 not both solutions don't work me.

hey, i've been playing toshiba c650d had same random freezing problem (and guess atheros wireless driver - it's same version laptop).
